Participation as YYA Not Registered as St. Jude Parishioners and Non-Catholics in SYYAM
SYYAM seeks to dispel a "keeper of the aquarium" mentality, calling forth its member to become "fishers of men." By this, it isn't abnormal to see participation from divers parishes and even non-Catholics.
Catholic youth not registered as St. Jude parishioners interested in being a member or participating in SYYAM should understand the following:
- Before attending, unregistered youth's parents should read and be familiar with the SYYAM Handbook.
- Before attending, please fill out and submit the necessary forms to the CYYAM or the office.
- Unregistered youth are not required to be registered at St. Jude Catholic Church Kapolei to be a member or participate in SYYAM.
- Attendance of SYYAM events is not an opportunity to invite members of SYYAM to come to another ministry event outside of the parish unless passed through the SHWAY CORPS.
Catholic young adults not registered as St. Jude parishioners or Non-Catholics interested in being a member or participating in SYYAM should understand the following:
- Before attending regularly, it is encouraged for unregistered young adults and non-Catholics to read the SYYAM Handbook.
- Be free to visit one of the YAM Communities at any time.
- Neighboring parish young adults are not required to be registered at St. Jude Catholic Church Kapolei to be a member or participate in YAM.
- The stipulation to become a leader in YAM means being a member of the SHWAY CORPS, fully initiated in the Catholic Churhc, following the guidelines of the Dioces of Honolulu.
- YAM is not a license to go to YM events.
- Neighboring parish young adults are not to use YM events as a place to get spiritually fed.
- Non-Catholic young adults interested in participating in YAM should take into mind that SYYAM is a Catholic Mission.
Non-Catholic youth interested in being a member or participating in SYYAM should understand the following:
- Items 1, 2, 3, and 4 under unregistered Catholic youth apply to non-Catholics as well.
- SYYAM is a Catholic Mission that the parents of non-Catholic youth should be made aware of through reading the SYYAM Handbook and filling out necessary forms before youth attends event.
- Attendance of non-Catholic youth is an opportunity for compassionate and gentle inter-faith dialogue.
