Purposes

Its purpose and need within the family

SYYAM is a partnership with parents, offering to be voluntary extensions of the parents for their youth, supplementing the family with tools to reinforce the Christian upbringing they are already receiving at home, advocating the parents in their absence.

Its purpose and need in Religious Education

SYYAM collaborates with Religious Education by assisting in the Confirmation process by providing opportunities for youth to participate in Works of Mercy reflecting on current moral and social justice issues. It's highly encouraged for Confirmation 1 and 2 students to be member of SYYAM.

Its purpose and need in Liturgy

SYYAM brings its participants to a love for the Eucharist in and outside of the Sunday liturgy, empowering its members to take ownership of the Mass by collaboration with existing liturgical minsitries, with the hope of generating participation from YYA that is both meaningfully active and valid.

Its purpose and need within other inter parish ministries

SYYAM is presently a powerful force within the Vicariate and Diocesan boards, having participants from various parishes, which has allowed generous exhange of gifts and talents between YYA from different parishes, allowing ecumenical partnerships to exist for the benefit of the entire Diocese.

Its purpose and need within the community at large

SYYAM follows the example of John Paul II, reaching out beyond the walls of the Catholic Church, building long lasting ministerial relationships with other religions and secular organizations through interfaith projects.
